Fresh Outlooks 3: 2025 in review and 2026 travel resolutions

Welcome to Issue 3 of Fresh Outlooks!

Fresh Outlooks

Fresh Outlooks is my semi-regular newsletter in which I:

  • round up my latest travel guides
  • let you know what I’ve been up to since the previous issue of Fresh Outlooks
  • give you a sneak preview of what’s coming up next

2025 travel round up

Looking back at 2025, I think it’s one of my best travel years yet. It was a year of contrasts, starting with the second half of my six-month sabbatical in New Zealand, Australia and Vietnam, and evolving with a surprising number of English coastal trips throughout the rest of the year. I also went on three Euro trips, two of which were by train. Here’s my full 2025 travel round up.

Where I’ve been recently

As you’ll see from my 2025 travel round up, I went on a nice Christmassy trip to Amsterdam in December where I ate an alarming number of pancakes and stroopwafels.

During January, I’ve largely hibernated in London with the exception of a day trip to St Albans to see its impressive cathedral and experience its Roman history.

Travel resolutions for 2026

I’ve got a list of places I’d like to visit in 2026, ranging from Greek islands to the Canadian Rockies. I’ve also got a few UK trips in mind, mainly centred around hiking. The only trip I have actually booked is to Tunisia in February for (hopefully) some winter sun so I need to start locking in some others!

More generally, one of my biggest travel priorities at the moment is to travel more sustainably, particularly flying less. I think the key thing is making the journey part of the trip. I’m planning to write about my thoughts on sustainable travel in more detail shortly – keep your eyes peeled.

What’s next for The Explorer Outlook?

I’m currently in the middle of a series of posts about Australia which I’ll summarise in the next issue of Fresh Outlooks. After Australia, I’ll be publishing my first posts about Africa. I’ll be no more specific than that for now…

Thanks for reading. All the best and keep travelling!

Judith
